A ridiculous statement used for column inches.

Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
The likes of Burnley and the other demonstrations are fueling the general belief that our fans are trouble and unsettling the team.

Apart from that, there does seem to be an astonishing level of vitriol from quite a lot of our fans during a game. I sometimes get quite worried for some of them as their blood boils and mouths froth as they spew sometimes unrecognisable insults

Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
Redknapp is spot on. We lost the first 3, the support would have been toxic as always, we'd not be in this position.

Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
I suppose you can spin any stat to how you want to, but to say that our away form was worse at Upton Park is easy to prove wrong.

Take those 4 seasons either side of the stadium move. Our average points per away game was EXACTLY the same, at 18.25 points per season.

Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
Jamie Redknapp’s had it in for West Ham for years.

Come On You Irons 2:53 Tue Feb 23
Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
So those stats could easily be spun to show how shit we were away from home in those seasons, which is probably a more accurate reflection of the reality.

Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
You can't really blame the stadium.for the hiring of Pellegrini and the purchase of overpriced players that didn't seem to give a fuck.
Not really a massive fan if the stadium but in fairness there is a lot more to our forn post move and up until this year that the stadium or the fans (or lack thereof over the last year)

Nagel 2:34 Tue Feb 23
Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
COYI, I didn't say we were the 2nd best team at home. The stats are looking at home advantage, ie the points per game at home vs points per game away. In 12/13 we got 1.06 more points per game at home than we did away. Only Everton had a higher relative home performance that season.

See here: https://www.soccerstats.com/homeaway.asp?league=england_2013

Come On You Irons 2:30 Tue Feb 23
Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
I very much doubt we were the 2nd best team at home in 12/13 and the third best team at home in 14/15 so a massive CHINNY RECKON to those STATS.

Nagel 2:30 Tue Feb 23
Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
What other variables do you mean exactly? Easy to be cynical about any and all stats. Those that I mentioned are taken across 3000+ games in 8 years in total so it's not like I'm looking at a game or a season in isolation.

Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
'For me that proves that it's not the fans, but the stadium that has made us worse at home.'

Yeah, you'd probably think that, if you thought that the home venue was the only variable and everything else was constant. You'd have to be pretty stupid to think like that, though.

Nagel 2:15 Tue Feb 23
Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
STAT ALERT!

If you look at home form in isolation it doesn't tell you how well the team may be doing overall so you need to look at the relative performance between home and away games.

Here are the stats for the 4 seasons pre and post move to the OS, showing how much our home advantage compared to all other teams in the division:

19/20 - 16th
18/19 - 9th
17/18 - 11th
16/17 - 16th
15/16 - 9th
14/15 - 3rd
13/14 - 10th
12/13 - 2nd

So, in the 4 years prior to moving we averaged about 6th place for home advantage and that went down to about 13th in the years since. For me that proves that it's not the fans, but the stadium that has made us worse at home.

The current situation just shows that a lot of teams have lost their home advantage since the lockdown whereas we gave ours up 5 years ago when the owners moved us to Stratford.

Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
I'll tell you also who should be put up as an example to all West Ham players not performing and West Ham fans often being fair & true in their abuse......ROBERT SNODGRASS.

There is your way to stop the abuse, put in the effort he did no matter what the personal limitations of the player.

Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
deal, I don't boo either but on the same token I don't want players at West Ham who can't take getting booed for lazy, inept performances and shrink into their shell because of it and that being their consistent performance in a West Ham shirt....as has been the case for many a season........work that one out.....

Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
This is really pissing a few people off.

Maybe it is a coincidence.

Or, maybe booing your own when you go 1-0 down does have a mental effect on the players?

Funny that.

Never understood booing. Weird thing to see grown men do at a football match. Never boo your own team no matter how bad they are playing. The club as a whole are better off if you just dont go and boo at the TV instead.

Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
Being so far away from the fucking pitch, surprised the fans have any impact.
Be interesting to ask someone like Noble what it feels like to play at UP and this one.
People like Jamie Redknapp aren’t qualified and just don’t fucking know what its like because he never experienced it as a player.
This situation is unique. Only West Ham and its fans have moved to somewhere far inferior.
Anywhere else that’s happened?

Re: Jamie redknapp.-west Ham better off playing in front of no fans,
I am out of my seat at home on a regular basis, shouting at the tv to praise the effort, skill and team work the TEAM is putting in and if anyone started a 5 minute chant for the BOSS I would happily join in.

So that leaves our unfinished business with the owners and how that 'Affects the Team'.

I think the message pre and post the match are 'Give us the owners that we, this team and our manager deserves. and the actual match is a traditional show of support for the efforts of the team then I think they will get it.

They are not stupid.
